Vintage crocheted bags from 1930s

Some of crocheted bags and purses from the old times are so darling. Look at those under here! Super cute. I definitely want to try these patterns. They aren't for free, but isn't that expensive for 3 bags and a hat. The illustration is amazing!

In the moment I´m finishing a shell bag from another 1930s pattern that I found previously also on Etsy. But next I would like to try one of those three above. These bags were so popular among women from the 30s up to 50s, and I can understand why. They are so pretty!

Which one of the 3 above do you like more? I haven't decided yet which one I will make next, please help me :)

  1. Those are wonderful bags! I love them. I can't knit but I can crochet so I will definitely have to give them a try. Where did you find the hardware for them. I look forward to seeing your next version!

    1. Hello dear gal :-)
Thank you so much to comment. I find pretty much everything on Etsy, from patterns to hardware. Unfortunately vintage handles are very expensive but they give an authentic look to the bags. For the bag that I´m finishing in the moment (the black unfinished in the photo) I purchased a handle on a Chinese shop, for 3 euros. In Portugal Chinese shops pop up like mushrooms! :-)

Thank you very much for your heart warming comment on Flicker! I truly appreciated that.

  2. They really are splendid! I especially like the - what I'd call - snowflake shaped one. In dark hues, white or blue, it looks like a snowflake to me, but I think that in red, pink, yellow, purple, green and perhaps a few others, it would be more reminiscent of a flower. Either way, it's super pretty and is my favourite of the three (though I really do adore all of them).

    Happy crocheting!
